The pain kept coming for Phillies fans on Thursday night, long after their team had crashed to an embarrassing three-game series sweep at home against the unheralded Baltimore Orioles.
The series was nothing short of a disaster for the Phillies, who many expect to compete for one of 16 playoff berths up for grabs in this shortened 60-game MLB season. Despite continued production from Bryce Harper and JT Realmuto, there wasn’t much else to brag about, with the bullpen continuing its dreadful season and some horrendous fielding blunders which ultimately proved costly.
Meanwhile, for long-suffering Orioles fans, the unexpected series sweep (and resulting 5-game win streak) provided an opportunity to pile on – the first they’ve had for quite some time.
Unfortunately, for the Phillies, three years of vent-up frustration came out in brutal meme barrage for the ages…
Unrelenting and undoubtedly, one of the highlights of the season.
