Glenn Maxwell’s woeful run of form has followed him to the Caribbean, making yet another duck in Australia’s crushing six wicket win over the West Indies early this morning.

After an impressive 2015, Maxwell’s numbers have nosedived in recent times, so much so that he now appears to be in serious danger of losing his place in the Australian starting eleven.

“The Big Show” had a quiet World Twenty20, scoring 109 runs at 27.25, with a strike rate of 129.76, and followed that up with a very poor Indian Premier League. Here, he scored just 179 runs at 19.99, with a strike rate of 144.35. His bowling was also ineffective, failing to take a wicket in his nine overs which cost 80 runs. During his poor campaign, he was overshadowed by Australian and Kings XI Pubjab teammate Marcus Stoinis who made 146 runs at 36.50 and took eight wickets at 24.25.

The latest failure (this morning) marked Maxwell’s third duck in four ODI innings, with the other score being just six. Is it time to look elsewhere?
