The Bowie Baysox are the Double-A Eastern League Champions, after winning the deciding Game 5 of the ELCS tonight in Bowie.

In what turned out to be a heated series against the Reading Fightin Phils (Philadelphia Phillies affiliate), where tensions flared in Games 2 and 4 as a result of batters being plunked, the Baysox had the final laugh, winning the decider 7-2.

It caps off a memorable – and historic – season for the Orioles’ Minor League affiliate, having secured just their second ever division title earlier this month, before winning a first round playoff series for the first time last week against the Altoona Curve.

Offensively, the best performers of the ELCS were Garabez Rosa (8-for-21, 2 HR, 7 RBI), Corban Joseph (8-for-21, 1 RBI), Ozzie Martinez (5-for-16, 1 RBI) and
Mike Yastrzemski (6-for-18, 3 RBI). While on the mound, David Hess (1-0, 7.0 IP, 1 ER, 8 K), Nick Addition (2-0, 11.0 IP, 3 ER, 6 K) and Jason Stoffel (2.2 IP, 5 K) kept the Fightin Phils bats quiet.
